Today would have been Alexandra's 71st birthday.Sadly missed always
She was an absolutely stunning beautiful lady, as well as a very talented actress...I first saw her as a child in The Champions...bought the DVD Box set when it was first issued. Sadly missed....a true Beauty....
We will always remember Alexandra. A gift from God for all of us...
Thank you so much for all you do in keeping alive the spirit of Alexandra ..I'm very grateful and despite living in a troubled world there has been some heaven on earth and typical Alexandra Bastedo filled that role..
RIP Alexandra..you are still alive strongly in all of us your friends
I found your site by chance and wanted to add something about Alexandra.
I shot a classy TV ad with her in about 1975/6. “Canada Dry” which was a fashionable mixer at that time, was set in a glittery casino where she excelled at glamour. It was screened nationally for a long period. I think Terry Donovan directed it …. adding something of the fashionable 60s photographers to its production values.
Alexandra was easy and fun to work with. I very much enjoyed the two day shoot and like most men was taken by her style and beauty.
I have been a fan since I was 8 years old.I am now in my fifties. It was so nice to watch the 3 cast members finally reunited almost 40 years later. What a beautiful woman she was.R I P Alexandra xxx
I fell in love with her at such a young age. She was a beautiful lady. Sorry to have seen that she died at such a young age.

I was named after one of the characters Alexandra played & for the first time in my life (45 yrs of age) I decided to google this actress. Have had a lovely evening reading all about her & look forward to seeing some of her work. She sounded like a really lovely lady. Sx

A life long fan xxx
I was shocked to find out that Alexandra had passed away. Prior to learning this I have been watching the complete edition of The Champions - I was 7 when it was initially aired in Australia and I could still remember some of the episodes. I believe that Alexandra Bastedo was a truly beautiful woman in every sense of the word
so sad to hear of her death.i enjoyed watching her in the champions and have bought the complete series as a tribute to her
In the '64 Onwards Gallery', there are some close ups of her beautiful face which take my breath way.
If you Google 'Images',you will see more wonderful photos of her in her youth.
I have yet to see a woman more beautiful... then or now.
Stunning beauty with humility, grace and kindness. What a combination...but then she had to leave us so soon...nothing left to say.
As a teenager and in my early twenties I was told I looked like Alexandra, even years later someone said to me he had seen her being interviewed and I look just like her. I wish I did have her looks and her heart.
Today would be Alex's 69th birthday.Happy birthday Alexandra, you will be always in my thoughts and prayers.
I was so sorry to hear of Alexandra Bastedo death. As a young girl I used to wish I was her. Just a beautiful woman. The champions were and are my favourite television series of all time.
I am shocked to find out of Alexandras passing a year ago.
When I was a little boy she stayed in our familys hotel and I can still remember to this day being stunned by her beauty I watched her like so many in the champions but unlike many had the happy memory of meeting her and sitting on her knee. I sent an e-mail to her a couple of year ago and got a lovely reply saying so remembered the hotel my parents and having a little boy sitting on her knee it was so nice. I will always remember you and how kind and beautiful you were. My world is a little less bright now you are gone. Thank You
It"s been a year since Alexandra has passed away.Although she is no longer with us,she will always be in our thoughts.
Thinking of you at this time Alexandra..such a special angel ..you are alive in our thoughts with fondness and love..

I had no idea that Alexandra had dies earlier this year, such a damned shame. A great actress and animal supporter. I have learned much by visiting this web site. I only knew her from The Champions but she did much more. Rest in Peace Alexandra.
Thank you Alexandra for all the good you brought to this World. Surely, your celestial beauty will be even brighter in Heaven. So long!
Your faithful latinoamerican admirer,
I havent visited Alexandra's website for a couple of years and am so sorry to hear she had passed away this year - so soon after her husband. A big shock.
She was a classy lady and I always enjoyed her appearences in the "Champions" since I was a 13 year old! Her sterling work in animal welfare also deserves my admiration.
Beautiful lady, my first childhood crush which has never diminished.
So sad your gone. Love you always xx
I can only echo the previous entry by mari ash. I decided to find out where they are now as I was watched The Champions series I bought from ITunes - My child hood favourite show.So sad so find she left us this year. Bless her and her family.
One of the most beautiful women in the world. Ever. I had no idea that this beautiful woman had died. I well remember her from my childhood, in the champions t.v. Series. I still want to be her when I grow up.
Sad to learn of the passing of Alexandra, an occurrence of which I had been blissfully unaware until this morning. She was a mere sixteen years my senior.
With the passing of time, I look back upon the period in which Alexandra did most of her high-profile work as something of a ‘Golden era’. A cliché some may say, but I think also a truism.
First we realize that we are no longer the young generation, and then we realize that piece by piece, our past is falling away. I see no talent nor beauty to match what now lives on only on film. Goodbye Alexandra.
Just the other week, I decided to catch up on What Alexandra was up to these days, only to read with shock at the news of her passing. Such as sad day. I like many on this guestbook, grew up watching Alexandra on TV from the sixties to the eighties, and wished for a date with a most beautiful girl (even though she was ten years my senior). My heart goes out to her family and relatives at their loss. Alexandra was one of those british actresses with grace that you rarely see these days. her natural beauty left unspoilt. It is such a shame that we never saw more of her on prime time TV and in film, as she deserved. Never forgotten.
I was just watching a few episodes of one of my favourite programmes from a bygone era, and I remember growing up seeing this beautiful articulate blonde , that I wanted to fantasy date but was way out of my pay scale, but growing up she was my ideal person to receive a valentines card from, what a beautiful girl.
On researching the champions I see that Stuart and Craig are still living, but I was shocked to hear that my blonde has passed away, I shed a few tears reading through her order of service, but it happens to us all.... Sooner than later later, I'll watch all future episodes of the champions with a lump in my throat, since my favourite icon is in longer around
What a beautiful beautiful woman, in so many ways. You are sadly missed by so many.
A purely super woman .
My first Crush
Just so very sad this Lovely Lady as passed away, she was a true Champion in life, giving kindness and love, to abandend animals, A Beatiful lady.
Nice to hear all the wonderful comments about Alexandra. In most case's actors are puppets and sometimes may play roles which are against there moral code however I am not attacking all cinema television and plays produced actors unfortunately are under the control of directors and thus have to act accordingly sometimes against there better judgement. Not so with this beautiful lady who plied her talents her elegance and grace on the screen with ease.I am sure if Alexandra was not comfortable with roles she would have turned them down in a heartbeat. I like many of the people who have posted here have admired this lady for a long time. The champions of which we all loved helped to shape our moral compass and there was always a clear definition of good and evil alas today many television shows are in very grey areas.Alexandra would not have had it any other way than to teach us that definition between good and evil. Hope I am making some sense.Rest in peace dear lady you are in the hands of God for he loved you into existence and it is him who you return to. Gerald

I was very saddened to read of Alexandra's passing, since it only seemed a few weeks since she was in London a celebrity signing Champions event.Although her obituaries stated she was raised in Brighton, she did in fact live in West Worthing for a few years as a youngster, in sea place, goring, and attended West Park Junior School
I knew Alexandra and worked with her professionally in 2 tours of Beyond reasonable Doubt with the late Simon Ward and Lesley Grantham(the later she was not a fan of). I was under the name of Robert Merchill then and and some of the smaller roles to play in the cast but that never mattered to Alex and she treated us well as everyone else. I even was lucky enough to share a slow dance with her in an after show party at the hotel she was staying at.I was 27 then. It was my absolute shock that I discovered she had died early this year while reading the TV times. This brought great sadness to me as I remember her kindness fondly. She was a beautiful caring women and she look after us all on tour. We used to call her head girl as she was always organising the events and outings for us all to go on.
I would love to come and see ABC animals when I'm down that way and hopefully pay my respects to Alex if possible also. I will never forget that dance I had with her as long as i live.
God bless you Alex. RIP
My kindest regards
Beautiful and talented in many ways. She was a true champion to many.
I was only a small child when I first watch The Champions - wow. The memories of her will always haunt.
May god bless you and your family.
What a beautiful woman .I hope you are happy. x x
I just can't believe that she has gone. She was just so lovely and beautiful. Rest in peace.
I started watching the champions again on utube and it brought many happy thoughts of my childhood . I decided to check up on the actors in this fine series only to find out Alexandra has died.
I am saddened to find out Alexandra died in January and I did not know. Terrible news.
Alexandra Bastedo was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. She took my breath away.
Alexandra was also classy, gentle, modest, and a beautiful person inside.
Her physical beauty was beyond description, especially in the her youth. Her face had a divine glow and a serenity and beauty of one who had been touched by hand of God...a goddess or an angel...a Helen of Troy, whose fabulous face could not only launch a thousand ships, but launched the adoration of the world.
God Bless you, Angel,we will never see the like of your breathtaking beauty ever again.
Alexandra you had special powers in real life too.!! We all miss you but know that you are now with your beloved Patrick.. Heaven has gained two angels.
I just heard of Alexandra's passing from Robert Jagger -- we all grew up together in Hove. I am a year older than her but remember her at parties with Robert, the envy of one and all as the "it" couple of the 1960s... so sad to hear of this loss. My sincere condolences to her family and friends, in case anyone remembers the Windles from Palmeira Avenue.
I remember Alexandra from a little-knowm HBO movie from 1984 called Draw! that she did with Kirk Douglas amd James Coburn. Although it wasn't a big movie, I was always impressed with her performance and it is one of my favorite movies. Rest in peace, Alexandra. You were a fine actress...
The communication between my father and I was never particularly good. There's one secret, however, that my father shared with me when I was a little boy (in the 70s) that I remember to this day, and that was that he was quite fond of Ms. Bastedo looks. Now he can finally get to meet Ms. Bastedo up there.
Devastated that such a wonderful ,beautiful lady in every way has passed away..
So genuine and humble with all the beautiful qualities Alexandra possessed..an angel whose heart and beauty touched everyone who were ever a part of her life and from a fan like many others who will never forget this special woman .she will love forever in people's hearts ..
Having seen many of her performances as a youngster, and revisited all Champions episodeslast autumn, and seen The Aphrodite Inheritance only this year, I am saddened, living now in France,to have just read of her passing on the Michael J. Bird website. Her career was exemplary, and her presence magnetic.Porque mueren muy a menudo la buena gente cuando no son verdaderamente viejas? Adios guapisima.
Today,March 9th would have been Alexandra's 68th birthday.Although your no longer with us, you are in spirit and the fond memories we have of you.Alexandra this is your day.Happy Birthday to you Alex.
I am saddened beyond words to hear of Alexandra's passing. She mentioned in one of our last emails that she was off for a three-week holiday, in mid-November, a vacation that was long overdue. I just hope she left us knowing how important she was to so many of us, who grew up watching her on "THE CHAMPIONS" and how much she was a part of our lives growing up. We had been exchanging emails in the last year or so and she was very kind in her replies, to comment on "THE CHAMPIONS" website I am building. That someone so famous could be kind to just a fan like me truly shows what a wonderful lady she was and is. I will miss her, like we all will. My only consolation is that she has joined her beloved husband and that they will be happy once more.
Sorry to hear about Alex, my first crush and my first pinup, who stood out from all the rest for her beauty, such a sad loss to me and this world we live in, you will never be forgotten, god bless you, love, george X

I have read many of the tributes to Alexandra and can only add that every one rings true to my memory of her. She had star quality and as a boy, at school and friends with her late brother, she was something of a magical figure to me. Later in life I got to know her late husband and corresponded with her on the subject of their wonderful library, after his death last April. Alexandra intimated to me then that she had her own challenges to face, without spelling out that she was clearly seriously ill. I recall her saying she was going to 'go away for a month'. Her humility in the face of her own illness was characteristic of all that I knew about her, and have read about her here on her website. I did meet her a couple of times and found her radiant in every way. As the poet Antonio Machado says 'Long peace to thy bones...Definitively, sleep thou a quiet, and real, sleep.'
Charlotte Lowe (nee Coxhead)
I am so pleased I met with my late father's god daughter in 2013 and you handed me two adorable cats to care for, Snog and Noodles. Every time I snuggle Snog I shall think of Alex, a lovely, lovely lady. Hugs & love, Charlotte xx

RIP Alexandra XXXX
It is with so much sadness that I learn of the passing of this the most beautiful lady ever to grace Gods earth , a wonderful actress too who I followed all through my childhood and enjoyed all the re runs of the Champions . I was so fortunate to have received a letter from Alex in response to a letter I wrote her in 1997 the year we lost another princess (Diana) I also got lucky when she compered the miss world pageant in I think 1988 at the Grosvenor house hotel and I met her and her husband in the lobby and had a little chat and received an autograph , truly iconic she will always be and of all the people passed before her and that will pass after , notably Nelson Mandela , Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Robin Gibb, Tony Greig so many with huge influences Miss Bastedo will leave the deepest hole unable to be filled . a truly remarkable person in every sense. I will miss you eternally.Thank you for the fantastic memories Alexandra..Selwin
So very very sad and emotional to hear of your passing, without doubt the loveliest person I ever met and admired . Words cannot express how much you meant to me and my family when we were growing up..RIP Alexandra.
a beautifull women inside and out ( very very rare)
God bless you Alexandra
Our world seems darker with the passing of Alexandra... but another star has appeared in the night sky.
Deepest sympathies to the family and friends of this great actress.
I teach GCSE English and was led to share my tribute underneath, on my blog.
So sorry to hear of the passing of such a wonderful human being. I hope your legacy lives on.My condolences to all.
Not ashamed to say that Alexandra was my first crush, watching the Champions on a sunday afternoon was the highlight of the week. R.I.P
From reading through some of the tributes to Alexandra, some of these are from people who knew and sometimes worked with her. I can't count myself amongst those fortunate individuals I'm afraid.
I was shocked when I heard of her passing. Perusing the internet in the early hours of Monday morning, reading articles and interviews given by Alexandra, one overriding impression about her is given to a complete stranger. A feeling of class, elegance and good upbringing.
I read many things that night, the brushing off of Warren Beatty, about meeting and giving a lift to Steve McQueen in her Ford Capri hoping to discuss and land a part in one of his films, only for McQueen to seemingly have rather more amorous intentions.
Her subsequent ditching of Steve later that evening in Tramp nightclub made me laugh. The girl who froze out the king of cool.
I just wonder how many other young women of the time could have wilfully resisted the charms of the above world famous lotharios.
As a teenager she was my poster girl, a more attractive woman since then I would struggle to identify, to say she was the most gorgeous woman that ever existed may be too sweeping a statement. However, the most beautiful to have existed in the public eye in any kind of medium I personally think she may well have been.
I only recently discovered her animal charity work revealing another appealing side to her character.
Human beings are not an endangered species, nor are they an uncommon animal. Alexandra Bastedo was an uncommon example of humankind though, this lady really was an example of girl power.
I'm only one of many ageing adolescents and recycled teenagers the world over who is sad about losing a part of their childhood.
To her family and friends who lose so much more may I offer my most sincere condolences and also express my envy in you all for knowing such an obviously special person.
Alexandra Bastedo RIP
My eternal respect,
Eddie Oliver x

I have lucky to meet Alexandra a few times in West Chiltington, and she also attended my friend's wedding in the village. She was a truly inspiring and wonderful person, and we talked enthusiastically about her animal welfare charity; and I was amazed by her warmth and friendliness. A real loss to all around her - a truly beautiful person who has been taken from us way too early.

What can I say that hasn't been expressed here by a man of a certain age.
Alexandra's is the name that I recall with fondness from her role as Sharon Macready in The Champions. She remained the epitome of grace and charm throughout her life. She will be missed by all of us.

I only ever met Alexandra the once, that was at the house in Almodington, I was struck by her charm and kindness and her total acceptance of a complete stranger and his kids banging on her door to say hello. The Biography I read was enchanting and it was photos in there that lead me to recognise the farm. I remembered her from watching The Champions as a teenager. She was a truly remarkable lady and a real star. Well Englands loss is heavens gain and there is now a star up there with Alexadras name on it. Rest in peace you lovely lady. So Sorry to hear this very sad news, never met the lady but always admired her, just far too young to go from this horrible disease, I wish her family and friends all the very bes.
What a wonderful legacy to leave in the ABC animal charity, we can only hope in continues in her name.
Just weeks after Lewis Collins another icon of Classic British Television has gone, The Champions remains a truly great iconic programme, and one of those we really will not see the like of ever again. We all knew Alexandra was a beautiful woman, now we know she was beautiful inside too. Sympathy to Alexandra's family.
such a stunning lady who I fell inlove with when I was a fairly young boy RIP Alexandra
So sad to hear this news today obviously like most people of my generation we first saw her in the champions ,a lovely lady in all accounts I'm sure but certainly her biggest legacy was her love for animals truly a kind person who I'm sure is going to be so greatly missed rip Alexandro
Alexandra Bastedo kindly agreed to judge a charity dog show for us quite a few years ago. She was beautiful, professional and a great hit with the public, even those too young to remember her acting days. She will be greatly missed. RIP.
Very sorry to hear of Alexander's passing.
Rest in peace Alexandra. Your beauty will be remembered by all who knew and loved you. Thank you for your contribution to animal welfare. All animal lovers, will , I am sure feel as sad as I do. May God bless you.

Such sad news i watched Alexandra as a little girl in The Champions ...such a lovely graceful and beautiful actress ...RIP Alexandra ...thoughts are with family and friends.
I only ever saw this lady on TV and always appreciated her acting skills as well as her poise and classic beauty.
I only read later of all the other good charity work Alexandra did.
A True LADY in every sense of the world.
I was born the same year and remember so many of the good TV programmes of this era.
I am very sorry to hear the sad news.It is so sad that she wasn't here longer, she did so much good. I loved 60's and 70's TV and film so i have great memories of seeing her in 'The Champions' and 'The Saint',with Roger Moore and Kate O'Mara. Also the film 'The Ghoul' with Peter Cushing and John Hurt(and Veronica Carlson). She did such a great job with her team of helpers on the sanctuary, i always felt so comfortable sending a small donation to her charity as,i felt more than 100% safe, and what a loss to this world today. God bless her and reward her.
I saw the lady on stage many times. She'll be sadly missed. RIP Alexandra. x
I was so shocked and saddened at the news of Alexandra's death. We worked together many years ago on television. She was a beautiful woman both inside and out. Simon Ward was also with us - he has too gone. I became so fond of Alexandra, how I wish we had kept in touch. Wonderful woman, God bless her.
RIP Alexandra. Beautiful lady and person, will be sadly missed.
A beautiful actress and a wonderful ambassador for sick animals.

Sorry to hear you left us, Alexandra. I met you when I worked in the theatre in the late 90s. Both you and Patrick were the nicest people anyone could hope to meet, and really helped me tone and improve my one-man show. So very sorry that you are now both away from us
A very beautiful lady who gave much pleasure to others, I fell for her many years ago and enjoyed her acting career. Rest in peace dear lady.
Loved Alexandra from her time in "The Champions" I was just a kid and thought she was stunning.....and even through the passing of time she still was. Saw her with Harry Secombe at Birmingham Alexander Theatre and she was radiant and beautiful. A class lady and vastly underrated as an actress and for her looks. I don't normally leave tributes like this but for this lady its a pleasure, rest in peace, Alexandra
I'm devastated by the news that Alexandra has passed. I've loved The Champions since I was a boy and received the box set this Christmas- just yesterday I watched the episode 'Iron Man' on a quiet Sunday afternoon.
Alexandra set a great example for all beautiful people in the public eye- luminous beauty is an accident of birth that does not dictate 'who' you are. She followed her own path and dedicated her life and energies to the cause of animal welfare, finding a way beyond the fickle and vacuous trap of fame and celebrity to a life lived with purpose and grace.
I feel so sad today, which can only be a tiny fraction of the loss felt by her family, friends and colleagues. To all of you, please accept my deepest sympathies.
Thank you Alexandra- a true Champion.
We have lost a wonderful actress a true beauty, inside and out. We are sorry you have gone but so glad you were here Alexandra.
So saddened to hear of her passing. Admired her as an actress (as a young girl it was great to see a heroine on the TV). So elegant and beautiful. Her compassion and passion for animal welfare is a tribute to a truly lovely person.

A quite stunning and timelessly beautiful woman, with a unique look and presence that would have made her stand out in any era. I remember watching The Champions at the age of 7 and thinking she was the last word in class, sophistication and beauty. How sad that she is no longer with us.
So Sad to hear of Alexandra's passing. She was one of my early crushes when she was Sharon McReadie.

Dear Alexandra. I want to express My deepest condolences on the loss of you husband. I have just found your site because I was searching for more information on The Chaqmpions as it is one my favorite shows today & while growing up (now 56) in the United States and I have finally been able to see all 30 episodes in color now that I have the 9 disc DVD set. I also want you to know that you have a great site here and I enjoy it all especially the links and most especially the work you do with animals. And finally in case you were curious about my last name of Wight. Yes,it is the same as the Isle of Wight off the southern coast of England and my Great Uncle traced our ancestry back to 1400 in England until he unexpectedly passed away before he could complete his research but not before he left all of us a detailed book (he was a published writer) on our family tree up to that date. Thank you again for all you have done and the joy you have brought to millions of people worldwide including myself; Richard A. Wight

I was trawling and enjoyed seeing 'Aphrodite Inheritance' after having seen it those years ago, yes worn it is but the craft of the cast is no less and the message is timeless, Thank you.
I see you've had a loss, but is it? For those of mine that are gone are with me no less. I wish you well
Good morning Mrs. Bastedo :)
I was wondering where my manners went yesterday, when I saw you had a VISITOR's book and I had failed to sign it.
You know, a few years ago, well, more than a few, when I had hair, and when it was supposed to be on my head, I saw Chuck Jones (of Bugs Bunny fame...) presenting an evening of cartoons at the JUST FOR LAUGHS film festival in Montreal.
He took in questions afterwards and the first one went something like this. The young man said "I do not have a question so much as a comment, Mr. Jones, I just wanted to thank you for making my childhood so memorable" and with that, a thunderous ovation rattled the ol' Rialto theater on Avenue du Parc in Montreal. For like 10 minutes.
This is the message I would like to send to you as well, thank you for having been such a part of my childhood and for continuing to be.
And of course, for being a source of inspiration with the work you do now, so unselfishly helping our four-legged (and two-legged and two-flippers...) friends.
Thank you for having given us all so much and for making so many of us want to return the favor...
I also want to add my sincerest condoleances to the ones so many of the other writers here have given you. The loss of a loved one, at such a young age, is a heartbreaking part of life to go through. I hope somehow that our messages are a small comfort to you.
Sincerely and with much love,
Mario in Ottawa :)
I was searching the web for information on 'The Champions' after trying to remember how the characters got thier telepathic powers from, anyhow, I discovered your website instead. I am glad I did it has brought back many happy memories and also introduced me to 'your' ABC animal sanctuary. I too am an ardent animal lover and belong to many 'animal friendly' societies. Good on you and your colleagues and volunteers!!!
May I take this opportunity to offer my condolences on the sad loss of your husband. I am sure the many treasured memories you have of him will help you to celebrate his life. My thought will be with you on the 16th.
Dear Alexandra - I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I remember your portrayal on the Champions as a memorable part of my youth. I wish you best wishes for all your future endevours from a British fan in Michigan USA.
I worked with you in 1996 in Pickwick with Harry Secombe and Roy Castle.. I was about to contact you and Patrick to say that we may be moving to the area and felt compelled to write to you when I found the news of about your lovely husband.. I am so sorry. I was so taken back when I found out.
I have a message on my son's sail boat which says:
"The Will of God will never lead you where the grace of God cannot keep you." ...And I do believe that.
Much love to you and would love to catch up.
I have no idea why today - I suddenly was thinking back to my childhood and "The Champions". A few clicks on the internet and discover your website.
I am sorry that you have suffered the loss of your husband and I truly hope that each day you become a little stronger and work towards a new future.
Thank you for so many years of great entertainment and my most sincere best wishes to you and your future.

Just re-watching the Champions, you're one of the most beautiful women of all time.

Great to find your website! Your name came up on a West Bromwich Albion supporters forum (WBA MAD) on a list of "If you coudl have three people to dinner....." - just had to see what had happened to my boyhood "Champions" pin up. Great to see your animal work.
Bonjour Alexandra Bastedo,
Good afternoon Alexandra, I don't know how but your name came up in a conversation I had at the weekend with friends.
A question was asked 'when did you first begin to notice girls'. I replied whilst watching you in the champions.I thought after that I must see what happened to the person who had such an effect on me.
Now I see you have an animal sanctuary, still obviously perfect in every way.
Dear Alex, As a teenager, i had a crush on you in the TV series The Champions, and in fact you was my very first pin up as i remember you was wearing a C&A dress in the the TV Times, and i dont think that any woman past or present can beat you on beauty, you are still my most favourite........george X
Just finished watching the movie "DRAW".I can see why Miss Bastedo enjoyed making the picture, She gave a very good performance.
The interplay and banter between her character and Kirk Douglas was the best scenes.
I wonder did she enjoyed the costume, she wore, or it was chore to put it on everyday.
DRAW was a good take on the Classic Westerns!

You should take part in a contest for one of the most
useful blogs on the web. I will highly recommend this website!
Very great post. I simply stumbled upon your weblog
and wished to mention that I have really loved browsing your weblog posts.
After all I'll be subscribing in your rss feed and I hope you write again very soon!
Am wading through the complete seies of Saint DVD's and came across you yourself in something called the Counterfeit Countess - of all the female future stars and starlets that appeared in that series you are the one with the knockout good looks - no doubt you still possess them - didn't know you were British!?
Dear miss, big thanks having us to know you behind the scene with your website and animal website too! You were a role model with "the champions" as your coactors for me and you still are today: Quote: "animals do not care what you wear or if your hair are done" or something close to that...To me you are teachers of life and I benefit from it a lot. Thanks for sharing!Wish you the best of your dreams come true!
Good morning from Germany. I would like to inform you that the pictures arrived yesterday in perfect condition.
Thanks very much for the personal dedication.
They will find their place in my autograph album where you will have other famous names next to you.
While on the subject: Is it possible to find a picture of the 3 of you champs on a photograph and been signed by all 3 ?
Or maybe a visitor to this site could have a tip for me where i could look ?
To end my message, I would like to thank you for my wonderful viewing of The Champions and for all your work and passion in giving the animals a happy life.
So nice to find your site . I was a fan of The Champions . I seem to remember an episode set in The Australian Desert. It was rare to see an international tv show set in Australia in those days. I also remeber seeing 'Kashmiri Run' on late night tv.
Animal rescue is a noble lifestyle in this modern world. In fact my oldest daughter is involved with WIRES, one of Australias largest wildlife rescue organisations.
Nice to know that you are still out there and doing such good deeds
Hi Alexandra it would be nice to think you actually will read this as you were my first love followed closely by Sophie Loren ..well not so close ( don't want you fighting over me lol )you still have a special place in my heart i still watch the champions whilst in the canteen in work and will give anyone a stern look if they talk over you haha your without doubt a most beautiful woman and with your sanctuary seems your also beautiful within thanks again xx
I am very happy that I can write you. I am argentine (from Argentina, in South America), I saw "The Champions" when I was
eleven years old, in 1969, and here I knew
you, and I was fascinated with the three of you. You were my model of girl, I wanted to be like you. You and the boys
of the serie made me very happy and I will
always say you THANKS. Then I studied English to understand you, and now I can
communicate with you. I wish you the most hapiness and you are a lovely person for what you do for the animals.
I love you !!!
delighted can't believe i've found this web site what beautiful woman always wondered what she was doing and what she looks like
What can I say that has not already been said? Really enjoyed the Champions and still have the recordings on betamax tapes...but can't get a betamax video player anymore. You are a legend! Good luck with the santuary. Carl
Happy Birthday Alex. I hope you had a fantastic day and will have a wonderful year to come!
Happy Birthday Alexandra. 65 wonderful years.
My 12 year son discovered the champions last year when the series was shown before school each morning on digital tv.
Needless to say he insisted I obtain all the episodes that were made.
Of course he loves it , as did I and my wife who would have seen the series re-runs in the 70's.
30 epsisodes in one series, those were the days! I wish we could re-capture those times.
I have tried him on other popular series from the 60's and apart from the munsters and bewitched, American of course, he's doesnt really enjoy the other British shows at all, well maybe a bit of the saint now and then.
He's blessed with good taste it seems.
And no prizes for guessing who his favourite champions character is.
Thank you Alexandra & we wish you and your ABC sanctuary all the best, we have made donations as animal lovers ourselves.
You are a very beautiful woman. I think i have a crush on you. Thank you for being so beautiful.
Alexandra, both yourself and Veronica Carlson (who appeared in the Hammer films, The Saint and Randall & Hopkirk Deceased) are the two most beautiful blondes I have ever seen on TV. I watched The Champioins avidly back in sixties as a kid, and I think it is really good that this series is now available to buy on DVD. Hope to get it soon.
All the best from Merseyside (Yeah, Yeah, Yeah)
I watched the Champions when I was studying Engineering from 1972 - 1975 at the University of Michigan. The show was great, and I thought you were the classiest and best looking woman in the world. The show was great and I was bummed at the end of it's run. I hope all is well with your life. Thanks for that show and having a place for me to express these thoughts.
Hi alexandra ,im still watching the champions after all these years its great! You still look like debbie harry in that show you could have been sisters. Love you lots keep up the superb work and best wishes for a happy new year. Mike xx
If it was possible to fall in love at the age of eight - i fell in love with Sharron Macready. Yes,yet another 50 year old who remembers watching The Champions avidly to see you on a weekly basis. Having read "Beware Donkeys Dobermans and Ducks" i was left with the thought, what a kind beautiful person. Would love to meet you Alexandra, but feel i would be totally speechless!.
Best wishes Dave xx
I fell for you in 1979 while watching The Aphrodite Inheritance when you were playing the role of Helenie, you performed the part so well, such beauty, mystery and fun.
I think you are still a very beautiful lady and you have a beautiful heart, the way you care for the ABC Animals.
I also grew up thinking you were wonderful in The Champions as I watched it regularly. It was an enjoyable and original show. One of the episodes that left a strong impression was about witchcraft in Cornwall. I saw it repeated recently on ITV 4. I also remember The Aphrodite Inheritance very fondly. You were perfect for that role, and the music was outstanding. It's great that you're now doing such excellent work for your animal sanctuary.
Here's to one of the most beautiful, classy actresses this country ever produced. I wish you much happiness and good health.
Just Dropping BY.
May I wish Alexandra and her many admirers a very merry Christmas, and happy new year.
Thank You XXX
Hi,when I was younger I always thought you had classic beauty, now as I am more mature I know you have classic beauty both by looks and nature. Great cause and you are a great Lady. I would loved to of met you, as any red blooded man I guess I had a crush on you. Have a good life lots of love and bon chance.
You are just a million bucks.
The Champions is being shown on one of the digital channels at the moment, and it bought back so many childhood memories.
They were such great days.
The Champions/Randall and Hopkirk/The Saint/The Avengers etc.
What great TV that was.
As i boy i grew up with the Champions and fell in love with you then and still do. There is is phrase its nice to be a success with fame and money , but its better to remain nice. Clearly your life and work with animals shows this. Wishing you success with your charity and will make sure i visit your open day.
I'm yet another 50 something who fell in love with you way back when. I have just returned from Geneva, I had to have my photo taken in front of the Jet d'eau just as you did in the Champions.
Great to have found your website and what a fantastic cause. Hope you are well.
I grew up watching and loving you in the "Champions," I fancied you something rotten and still do! You are a special woman and I wish you all the best with your animal sanctuary and anything you do in the future...
great to find this web site, as a young lad in the sixties watching your tv show on a sunday lunch time was the greatest thing on this earth and one of the best programms on tv at that time. Although tv programs have changed alot since then. I do miss them days where things seemed a lot simpler, as to day i`m celebrating my 50th birthday and watched one of your epesodies about all the crew on a sub being found dead, brought back a lot of memories. keep up the good work. great to know your all well .
best wjshes malc
Its so wonderful to find this website.
I watch the champions every day, such a wonderful series which I missed first time round,I am 63 at the moment and just saw bits of it then. Yes I agree that you would have made a wonderful Bond Girl and also would have been just great in the Avengers. You were and still are so beautiful but by also looking after the animals it shows that you have a real kind heart, will try and visit your animal sanctuary in the future !!
Best wishes Gordon Penny
i love looking at your profile which is very interesting I watch all your films
Love watching the Champions reruns as I'm now semi-retired but loved the originals too and loved your no nonsense attitude which was rare back then. You are obviously still as gorgeous as ever but will have to try and visit the Sanctuary sometime. Best of luck and many thanks for good memories.
A great official website, and, demonstrates that behind a very polished performer their is a very caring person, and this is a very rare commodity.
Hello Alexandra. For me, you were the greatest James Bond girl who never was. Thank you for all the joy you have brought through your work. All the very best to you and your animal sanctuary. A very worthy cause!
i agree with all the nice things people have said on this site , good luck with the animal sanctuary alexandra .XXXXXXX
Always admired your work and loved The Champions as a young lad. My favourite episode was 'To Trap A Rat' with Kate O'Mara, we should see more of you both on television. My 'telly heaven' would be something like a Midsomer Murder or Marple episode with you, Annette Andre and Kate O'Mara starring as suspects.
Good luck to you with the animal sanctuary and thanks for some absolutely fab memories with many more hopefully to come!
My God,Finding This Website,Has Brought Back A Lot Of Memories...Good Ones..I Use To Dream About Alexandra,Every 2 Days. Stunning Eyes To Start With,Then Natural Beauty..
The Best Thing About Alexandra In The Champions,Was Her Strenth,And No messing With This Woman Tactics...still Stunning..Thank You Alexandra..xxx Marcus..
I was Born 1962 Grew up watching "The Champions" in the 70's
Your 'Fantastic'! The grace and personality over many years and all your good work.
Your are a rare beauty and entity for which we rarely see these days!
Love & Light Like *Stars* In The Universe :)
you were, and still are ( as far as i can see ) the most beautiful girl in the world.
Dear Alexandra.I loved you then I love you now and always. As a boy back in the 60,s i fell in love with you,and that has stayed with me til this day.I wish you well and happiness. With much love Richard.
You were one of two of my favourite actresses in the sixties, the other being Annette Andre, you were two of the most beautiful woman on TV and still are. Great website very enjoyable looking through the pages.
Just chatting with my friend and I just said one of the most beautiful women I ever remember was you, and then I said what happened to her, I know "I'll google her" and here I am on your site and you are still gorgeous. I was abroad quite a lot when I was younger so did not remember the champions too much, but I remember you on - it was either a horse or a camel and I was bowled over on how gorgeous you were, it was either horse of the year show or something like that, anyways you still look great, I'm still jealous:)
LOL Judy XX
hi,im currently watching reruns of the champions,i watched them all when i was younger, you were fab, what are you doing these days, pete
I have never been one for the adoration of "celebrity", however I remember as a four year old watching the champions, loving the programme and of course, being bowled over by Alexandras incredible beauty and screen presence. Recently I saw the champions on tv and was thrilled to feel the same way about the programme today, all these years on. Thank you for having such a wonderfully positive impact on such a small child, and thanks for the rekindled memories. Alexandra, you are one very special lady. Good luck with ABC, what a great cause to champion.
Dear Alexandra, As an avid fan of The Champions, I get a regular fix not only from the re-runs but the entire DVD set which I recently treated myself too. Yes, the sets have aged and the cars are of an era long gone by but the fact remains, this was one of the most enigmatic TV ideas ever. The fan base, I'm sure is significant. At 50, I'm proud to be a member.
Is it at all possible that a modern-day cinematic film or TV serial could be made bringing the original cast back together for some cameo appearences? Sons and Daughters of the Champions perhaps?
I hope to visit your wonderful ABC Sanctuary with my children sometime very soon. You are to be congratulated for doing some magnificent work. Well Done!
Hello Alexandra !!. I am from Costa Rica, Central America, I remember you in The Champions. It was my favorite tv series in those years. It was fantastic and interesting.I am 56 now. I remember you with love.
Greetings. Mario Rivera
Pd: I am sorry for my english !

alexandra, ive just got to ask in the champions you always had your handbag with you even in the jungle and south pole. ok so come on what was in it? that information must be "declassified" by now!....
Alexandra...my husband and I came along to your open day today. What fantastic caring work you are doing. Thank you for taking the time to talk to us, it was an honour and pleasure to meet you. A magic place and a great day, see you next year!
I've been coming here for a while and have very much enjoyed reading the contents. Have signed the petition for Jeremy Brett as well. Also I love being an ABC friend, and will hope to make a greater contribution over the next few months. You do wonderful work Alex, long may it continue!
All the Best to you and yours!
I have only just discovered The Champions on DVD, even though I am now 59. I am enjoying this show very much, what a great trip back to the 60s. You were wonderful as Sharon, you were all great. I have not seen much of your career but I do have a DVD of Tibetana in which you were opposite Pernell Roberts,(my heart throb) and I envied you very much. You were no doubt saddened to hear of Pernell's passing last January. It is great to know that you are running an animal sanctuary, what a worthy cause. Very best wishes from Dale (female), from New Zealand.
Hi there Alex. Great to see you have a sanctuary for animals, no small task either I should imagine but made up for by the satisfaction you get from it.
I used to watch The Champions repeats in the 80's ( I was 12ish then am 38 now) fantastic series and a fantastic concept at the time, I occasionally catch episodes currently being shown on ITV4. I am amazed that an updated version has not been made yet or even a reunion episode or both. Are there any plans for this at all do you know?
Keep up the good and hard work in all your endevours, you Champion :-)
I remember being allowed to watch 'The Champions' in the late Sixties when I was still a litle boy. Is it really possible for a five year old to fall in love? Because I did, and still am!
I am 56 and was a huge fan of the Champions. I am so pleased to find your site and wish you all the best with your animal sanctuary and I hope to come and visit sometime in the future.
Wishing you a very Happy Birthday Alexandra.
i was in conversation with some friends at work,i asked if they could remember a bbc programme from the 1970\'s wasn\'t sure about the title but knew it had aphrodite in the title.having looked on the net i discovered the full title,\"the aphrodite inheritence\".to try and cut the story short,i remember being 12 or so and seeing this very beautiful woman in the programme, this being one of my most memorable things about the programme and always will be.dear alexandra i see many pictures of you through various timespans except for more recently, having seen at least one,i feel it would be nice to see more on your site, you were and still are a very beautiful woman.it was nice to be able to express this view after many years, thanks and the best of luck in all you do especially the animal sanctuary, alan
Mario Celso Ferreira
My name is Mario and I live in a small city to the South of Brazil.
Like you should already know, my native language is the Portuguese, and I still have some difficulty with your language, Therefore, forgive me for my eventual mistakes in English.
I have the picture of your site in the screen of my computer, I accompanied your career as actress, from the series \"The Champions.\" I had a true fascination for your beauty; It is Pity, that at that time, the Internet, and the possibility of interacting with an artistic celebrity would not exist,... was an impossible thing. Besides the Series \"The Champions\" I accompanied other works On that you acted at the movies.
Know that today with 54 years, I continue being your admirer and your fan; I have admiration for the people that go by this life and they leave your mark, they leave memorable things, and you left and it shone in the Series \"The Champions\" and it continues shining, only that in another stage of your life.
It is Pity that the internet still doesn\'t turn possible to give a hug to take a picture and to ask an autograph...., If it was possible I would ask with certainty.
Congratulations for everything that you did and you do until today...
Just want to say that you are a fantastic lady and I cant watch enough of the Champions. You were all so good but the best one was when you all had to protect il cordijio, the iron man.
Thankyou for all your wonderful work on and off screen. You are an icon.
Well even at the age of eight years old I recognised beauty in the form of Ms Macready, back in the great sixties. Glad I was bought up in the photographic industry then. I can imagine those wonderful times especially with friends like Kate O\'Mara. I trust you all sink some vino together now and then! Best wishes for 2010 and I will hopefully visit on one of your open days in support of your excellent cause. Adam.
Came across your website after looking at The Champions which I remember watching, you mention Linda Thorson and Diana Rigg as your showbusiness friends, you all stared in well produced, worth watching programmes.
Best wishes with your animal welfare project.
Please can I wish Alexandra (and people who visit her site) a very merry Christmas and happy new year
I have just found your website. When I was younger I watched The Champions on tv - it was my favourite. As far as I was concerned, Sharron was the most beautiful woman in the world, as well as being smart, intelligent and brave. I have been watching the series again recently and am still of the same opinion. I think your website is fantastic, especially the work you do with and for animals, makes me realise that you are not just beautiful, smart and intelligent like Sharron but caring, kind and compassionate too. I am so proud to be a fan and shall tell everyone I know that I still love The Champions and Sharron Mcready! Wishing you all the best for the future, I shall join your fan club soon.
Hi Alexandra, I have just found your Web site, fantastic, and your work with animals. More people like yourself on this planet and the world would be perfect. I have to finish by saying you was and are beautiful, we will order your cards.
Alexandra, I'm lost for words when I look back and remember your matchless beauty. I was a small boy of 4 when the Champions first appeared, but I still have those same feelings today when I see film or pictures of you from that time. Clearly, you are still very beautiful. Thank you for making the choice to go into television, rather than go to university. Im sure they couldnt teach you anything. Best regards. Ashley
Hi Alexandra, great to see your wonderful work with the animal sanctuary. My first introduction to you however, like many of your avid fans, was through “The Champions”. I had a huge crush on Sharon Macready as a very young boy (am now 48) and was very jealous of Craig Sterling and Richard Barrat :-). Keep up the great work you’re doing with the sanctuary. The site is great by the way. Take care. Kind regards, Barrie x
Hi Alexandra - I've been reliving my youth watching re-runs of The Champions,
falling in love all over again with Britain's most glamorous TV star ever!
It was a great series, all us boys loved it, one major reason was beautiful Sharon Macready.
Thank you for the opportunity to send you this grateful message. x
I have just seen the new site here, it is excellent!

blue in the background. It is my favourite colour.
Best wishes with the success on your new site here.
Having watched The Champions on ITV this week, I had to drop you a line to say, you were one of the 20th century icons, and we still love you today.
I just wish you were at the Memorabilia show at the NEC 21st-22nd, November so many more fans could meet you. May be next time in March.
Sending you all the love in the world St Alexandra.
Lovely site, lovely cause, Lovely Alexandra Bastedo - one who bothers to actually smile at you and say hello .
Great to see the Champions back on TV, you have a natural beauty, that I have always admired. Good to read that you are doing fine.
Just saw one of the episodes of, 'The Champions,' on Sky this morning. Wow it takes me back.
This line is just to say, Jesus loves you. He's there in your joy and pain.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him." [Jn 3:16-17]
Steve P. (UK)
My Mum was telling me she saw you on one of the Sky channel programmes - she thinks - a few months ago talking about your animal sanctuary and how you often raise your own capital to help animals in distress. She was very impressed with your work as indeed I am. You do marvellous work with your sanctuary.
I am also a lifelong fan of The Champions and other series you have guest starred in such as Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) and The Saint.
HELLO ALEXANDRO. HAPPY TO SEE YOU ARE FEELING GREAT. YOU ARE A GREAT EXAMPLE FOR ALL OF US. ALSO KEEP DOING THE GOOD WORK THAT YOU INSPIRED THROUGH THE DECADES.
ALWAYS HAVE BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE YOU BIGGEST FAN.
MY 15 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER HAS ALREADY BEEN INITIATED TO THE SERIES WHICH I ALL HAVE.
CAROLE BRIAND, QUEBEC CANADA
Dear Miss Gorgeous,
Am from the Philippines and as a young child, i was fascinated by your beauty in the Champions... I\'m glad that as a 48 year old guy, i still have the same admiration for your beauty as when I first saw you 30 years or so ago on black and white... You will be forever be my first and only T.V. love,. Thanks
Just finshed watching \"The Aphrodite Inheritance\" in which Alexandra plays the very mysterious \'Helene\'. A great BBC drama series from 1979 sadley not available on video or DVD, but you can get it from the owner of his website which is dedicated to Micheal J. Bird who wrote the series.
Hi was watching the Champions the other day and thought what ever happend to that fantastic lady in it? so I looked you up. Great to see you are doing well and still look fantastic. best wishes,

Dear Alexandra, was casually watching re-runs of The Champions and decided to find out what you are doing now. I have been so moved by your work and story and have sent a donation to your project today as I know this is the thing that means most to you. You look so much like my beautiful dear sister in law who my brother, her sons, mother and I lost to breast cancer a few years ago. You sound so wonderfully brave and a wonderful girl. All support and thoughts to you.
Like everyone else I had my first crush
on you only 6yrs old but I remember kissing the screen whenever you appeared, I did receive some sort of fuzzy electric shock at the same time but it was worth it. You still look fantastic, great work with the sanctuary I have made a few donations.
Hi, just to say how much i admire what you have done with your life. Iwatched Champions as a little girl and would nag my mum to do my hair like yours and one day she came home from the hairdressers with your hair! I was so impressed as she was then what we now call a yummy mummy! and i loved it when she took me to school dressed and coiffed like you so trendy. My son is now watching the reruns on ITV 4, at last watching quality, that and The Saint. he thinks you are well fit and look well fit now after showing me your website...he is 16 so hot is really cool lol. Wishing you well and success with your ventures. We only rehomed a dog, a weimerhaner so you make me very jealous, i would love to have loads of babies to care for.
I watch Champions reruns just to see you, along with vast numbers of the male population, one imagines.
Wonderful to see how well you look and the work you are doing.
Makes me wish I was an abused donkey.
All the best
forever gorgeous on
PS Expect a donation as soon as I am in funds.
I\'ve just been watching an episode of The Champions. I recently re-discovered the series on sky after watching it every week as a youngster. I had a crush on you then, but I didn\'t realise how good the three of you were, and my crush has been rekindled! You were fantastic then and now I\'ve discovered what a caring person you are it\'s even better. Well done for your work with animals (I have a cat called Gizmo). I\'ll be donating immediately and hoping that you keep well. Lots of love and good wishes,
As has been said before i grew up watching Champions on tv and am now enjoying the re-runs on free view. You where my first ever crush, just thought i'd let you know.
All the best for the future and the Animal sanctury
I grew up watching the champions and loved it.
I still remember it to this day.
You are and were stunning... I wanted so much to look like you when I was younger.
I even purchased a old vhs video off Ebay of the champions so I can watch it now..
Quality of the video is rubbish but ahhh the memories are still there.
Be happy love and light
J'ai beaucoup aimé votre site. Je suis très content de vous savoir en forme et j'espère avoir le plaisir de vous retrouver dans un film ou une série prochainement.
Bonne santé et bonne vie
Your TV series was as part of my young time. I was about 12 years old when I saw the first episode, and my memory still remind all dreams made by this TV show.
gerard o donnell
still as loverly as your were all those years ago........grew up watching the champions adored you in the series...hope your well you do look it
I have recently been watching re-runs of The Champions on T.V. because, as an eight year old boy (1968) I fell in love with a woman who wasn't my mum!
Then, this week whilst flicking through the Daily Mail I couldn't believe my eyes! There was your story! I am really sorry to hear about your health problems in the past and I am relieved to hear that it IS in the past. Just wish I'd known about you auctioning the old Pirelli calender which featured you.
Just wanted to say that you are one of the most beautiful women to walk the earth and looking at you now still gives me goose bumps. There aren't many women that can do that to me!
All the best with your animal charity and good luck for your future happiness.
With love from Clive. XXX
Dear Alexandra ,
I am an unwanted 48 year old animal that has been very badly neglected and unloved .

Lonely animal of Lancashire xx
the champions was the best thing on tv exciting innovative action adventure with smart storylines exotic locations and high standard of acting i always liked the bit at the begging when the two guys throw a weight to each other as they all had incredible physical powers like to see it remade with alexandria of course still a beautiful woman.
I just wanted to say I have been a Alexandra Bastedo fan since 1968. At the age of seven years old, I think the benchmark had been set of what I thought a beautiful women should be like. In some ways we have had one thing in common, for the past 27 years I have worked as a Medical Professional rescuing people and you rescuing animals.I'm sure the animals are far more appreciative.Any way if you wondered who the guy was with the Nikon camera and the telephoto lens at West Chiltington fete last Saturday. It was not the paparazzi it was me, just wished I had plucked up the courage to say hello!!! however did donate to your charity.
God bless and keep up the good work.
love the work you and your volunteers are doing for the animals.
Love to try and get down for one of your open days or just visit the sanctuary on a normal day if thats possible.
I have been enjoying reruns of the Champions i must say you look as attractive now as you did back then. ALL the very best to you and every body involved in the sanctuary from BRIAN AND HOLLY.
WOW then, WOW now.
Would like to see more of you in acting.

Hi Alexandra - just found your website and hope that it gives me the chance (like obviously 1000s of other men who were brought up in the 60's) to say that you were simply the most beautiful woman I have ever set eyes on. Recently bought DVD boxed set of the Champions and still think the same. Great to see you've still kept those incredible looks and that you are clearly as lovely in person as you look.
Thank you Richard
Mark D.W. Smith
I just wanted to say how very much i enjoyed my vist to your open day on sunday it was a truly great day and i do hope you will do another event again
like the one at the weekend i think it is just a wonderful thing you and all your volunteers do looking after and caring for the animals that come to the sanctuary Kind Regards Mark
I thoroughly enjoyed the visit to your ABC sanctuary open day on Saturday.
West Chiltington is a beautiful setting.
During 30 years you must have cared for hundreds of animals and I hope you can continue for many more years (even if it is not another 30!).
My wife and I have cared for several rescued cats and greyhounds over the years and it always gladdens the heart to see animals being cared for.
I look forward to bringing friends to further open-days if you can arrange them.
I have become an 'ABC Friend' and will follow the reports on the animals with interest.
What a fantastic open day it was on Saturday.Great to finally meet you and all of those animals that you look after. You are a real Champion.
What a wonderful website and what wonderful work you are doing to help animals in need of rescue.
Long may it continue and all the very best for your open days this weekend.
Hello Alexandra, Just could not resist looking you up on the internet after watching an episode of the Champions on Sky. I was pleasantly suprised that you are fullfilling a life times dream and still looking as gorgeous as ever. I'm no doubt one of thousands of fans who have done just the same thing, as I have just noticed a few who have sent you messages of appreciation. I would like to add to the growing list and thankyou for the years of wonderful screen and TV appearences, The Champions was also my favorite show way back in the late 60's and early 70's.Good luck on your continued quest of looking after the animals. Hi Alexandra, I thought that you were one of the most beautiful women in the world when I was a kid watching you play Sharon McCready in the Champions. So much so in 2001,I named my first born daughter Alexandra after you!
WAYNE ANTHONY WING
HOPE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE WELL.
I WATCHED THE CHAMPIONS WHEN I WAS A CHILD,MAINLY BECAUSE OF YOU.
YOU LOOK GREAT.
Hi Alexandra, I 2 was a fan of the champions, & I was struck on how beautiful you are. I am also a fan of your friend Mike Tomkie & that was how I found out about your sanctuary. Although i had read your book a few years ago I'd forgotten about it. So I looked you up on the net & found this site. Anyway, I'm now a friend of ABC& wish you all the best, especially now, as I know things have been difficult. Carry on with the good work as Its a special gift to have an affinity with animals!
Dear Alexandra, I think that someone who devotes so much time with animals and their welfare, are a kind and considerate special person and you certainly are a champion of champions. If I can get to your open day I'd love to meet you.

Great to see you still looking good after all these years.I was only 7 and 8 years old when The Champions was first shown on tv and I saw every episode and bought the Annual.
It was good to see you a year later in an episode of Randall and Hopkirk.
Have enjoyed watching you in the Champions since being at school. A friend and I also went to Nottingham, to see you in \" Don\'t just lay there, say something \" It\'s great to see the Champions being shown again.
I'm another of the overly mature 10 year olds who fell in love with you in the Champions! You're still looking fabulous. What a wonderful, unique quality you brought to the screen. My wife was a great fan too- she wanted to be you, of course!
Best wishes for your charitable work,
I am huge fan of The Champions, and have been watching the repats on itv4.
I recently acquired the Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) DVD boxset and was delighted to see you in an episode I watched this afternoon!
By the way, I run an unofficial website which is dedicated to Elstree Studios (entitled Elstree Calling), where you made The Champions.
It has been great to read all about your life and work on here. I will add your link to my website!

Wow. I remember The Champions as my fave programme as a child growing up, & you in particular for some reason. Lovely to hear that you're alive and well, active (missed you in Eastenders) and as stunning as ever: the pedestal I put you on as a young boy still fits! You prove what exquisite taste I had even back then...
Your natural beauty captivated me when I was younger, as it still does now, you are, I think, the most beautiful woman Ever to grace our screen.
Good luck with everything you do in the future, especially with you animal sanctuary.
Richard J Cappuccio

Enjoy a Happy & Healthy 2009!
Will correspond throughout this year to stay in touch with you!
I think what you are doing is great.Pity I live so far a way in Huntingdon, otherwise I would like to help you with the animals. Keep up the good work Alex.
Just found this site after watching \\\\\\\"The Champions\\\\\\\" on TV again recently, and I always though you were gorgeous, and still are!
Those old TV shows show there age a bit now but they are still entertaining compared with the new stuff on the box, sooner watch them than big brother and other dummed down reality shows.
Hmm maybe I might get myself a calendar one day...not for the dates for the photos!
Hi there Alex just dropping by to say happy 2009 and hope you have a great year ahead...They have started to show the champions on ITV during weekday mornings and i just thaught of you for a minute...
All the best from Patrick
I have fond memories of "The Champions" Tv series, (revived by recently purchasing the set on DVD) and now that I have discovered your website perhaps I can find copies of other films in which you appeared.
Good luck with the animal work!

Hi Alexandra... Due to recently breaking my ankle, I'm spending lots of time watching TV and have re-discovered "The Champions" that I recall from its original run! Hence found your website. Great to read about your on-going active life and sterling work for animals, which is commendable.

Have a wonderful Christmas.. thanks for all the memories with Champions
Hello Alexandra, I came across your website because I love 1960's spy tv shows!! I am inspired by you because I am also an animal lover!! I would like to make some donations to your cause in 2009 & would love to be involved somehow in your work!! I would like to be of some assistance. Thank you for all that you do you are an inspiration all over the world, & I am spreading the word! Christina.
Hi Alexandra! I have to admit I was quite ignorant before today about who you actually were, until my Dad finally admitted that I was named after an actress from the TV series The Champions! He said that him and his friend had a deal that whoever had a daughter first they could name her after you.. and from what I’ve seen I’m highly honoured! and I'm also quite fond of the name so thanks! Yours faithfully, Alexandra II! :)
Just tuned in to \\\"The Champions\\\" and noticed the crush or my younger days Alexandra and checked out this website to see what your up to! You should go on \\\"im a celebrity\\\" one of the few people i would vote for! Your fan always ! Alan x
I saw The Champions in french in the 60s. I was addicted. For the first time today, I saw it in color with original voice.... Wow
Currently watching The Champions on ITV4, good entertainment even today. Well done on all the work at the animal sanctuary. It must be wonderful to be able to do a job you really enjoy and get so much satisfaction from.
Hi alexandra, I am currently watching the series of the champions on sky television.I can say that I am enjoying it as much as the first time I viewed it as a younger person. You were a role model for myself regarding women being in control of their own lives and being in a mostly masculine world,at the time. I feel the program was ahead of its time, in its subject content and the role of women

Hello Sharon Mcrady
I was born in 1966 in BANGKOK,THAILAND,about 2 years after your series\'s first launch in U.S.A. ,but lucky enough to had a chance to watched \"The Champion\"on black and white television with my family(our favorite program),at that time,I did not understand much about the story. One thing I can remember is \"Sharon\" is very pretty!and want to have girl friend look like this when i grow up(I was 5 or 6 years old back then)The way you posted in beginning title is pretty cool.
Recently,I happened to see your reunion with Craig and Richard (Name in the series)You still look great even this age.
Wish you stay beauty, healthy and live long.
Hope you have a chance to read this message by yourselve.
p.s. Your birth year is the same year of my mom.
I wish I could have met you in the 60\\\'s as a secret agent!
Love your work with animals.
hello alex when can your fans see you on paul o, grady show in the future
Thank you for giving us something timeless and wonderful to escape form the ever darkening woes of the world. You are a joy to watch, and are so, so beautiful. You have fans here in little Luxembourg!
have been a big fan of yours for years xx love you as sharon in the champions im your no 1 fan xxxxx
Have a lot of time and respect for you, as an actress, person and your work with the animal sanctuary.
It's a great pity more people are'nt as caring about our animal friends as you are. I abhor cruelty to animals and get very upset and angry when I read about it.
I would like to offer you my full support in your work and will be purchasing from your website in the very near future!
I was 10 years old when the Champions was first aired and have downloaded the first 8 episodes from the Apple Store...what a delight. At 10 you were my dream girl in fact I have an aunt who until recently stayed outside Geneva and my first trip to Switzerland was 1972. Just out of interest was Nemesis filmed in an office in Geneva or was the Geneva background a photograph. I was so pleased to see what you are doing now... rescuing animals. As part of my sideline I photograph dogs and have 2 dogs, one rescue dog called Tiger (12) and one 3 year old farm collie called Flori. All the dog owners in my local park have asked me to make a 2009 calendar and it\'s mainly full of rescue dogs, we hope to sell them to give money to the SSPCA but I will also tell them about your sanctuary and hopefully send you a donation as well. Keep up the good work lots of love and kisses...Philip
Dear Alexandra, I send sincere greetings from New Zealand. I have been very late to discover you since I never saw The Champions and I have only seen you in one film, Kashmiri Run with Pernell Roberts (my fave actor). I am very impressed with your commitment to animals, best wishes for your animal project and your continuing career. Dale.
Love this site, blogs and your ABC Animal Sanctuary site and merchandise. Brilliant!
Many kind regards
and warmest wishes
It sounds like a spanish person swearing in english..Bastedo. But oh Alexandra, what beauty and elegance you brought to our screens 40 years ago when "The Champions" first began. Now in 2008 you are doing it again in "Eastenders". Patrick Garland was a lucky man to have you marry him. Some guys have all the luck, as the song goes. (Robert Palmer in case you were wondering who sang it.) Mostly now it is the turn of the animals to benefit from your kindness. The overrding inpression I get from your website is one of a woman who is very grounded and has never taken her celebrity too seriously. Unlike many other famos people. So keep up the good work at the sanctuary and never turn down any v roles as I personally cant see enough of you on the small screen.
Matthew J. Adams
I never tire of watching the champions repeats. The opening scenes and soundtrack always take me back to when I first saw it as a five/six year old in my pyjamas and dressing gown ready for bed and begging my late Mum to let me stop up and watch it. Needless to say, you were always my favourite; I may have been only five years old but I was as captivated by your beauty then as I am now although my little sister always prefered Stuart Damon - for similar reasons no doubt.
Best wishes to you and all your animals and keep up the good work, Matt.
I had the pleasure of meeting you in 1983 in Drumheller, Alberta where you were filming the Movie " Draw " with Kirk Douglas and James Coburn.
We have several wonderful photographs taken with my son Scott-now 30 years old.
This tour down memory lane and seeing all of your work related projects and photographs, current and up do date were very special.
We look forward to seeing more of your work. Any chance you again film in western Canada?
We still have the scrapbook of your press clippings and letters.

Just watching The Champions re-runs on ITV and it brought back such fond memories of when I was a kid in the sixties and how much I looked forwards to tuning in once a week. What a series this was and still is !!
You are indeed a beautiful and gracious lady and as I noticed in your recent performances on eastenders, still a bloody good actress.
One of the most beautiful women of my generation.
A very lovely website, nicely put together. I am happy to have visited and seen what you do for our animal friends. Good Luck for the future.
