Gene Barry, "The Adventurer", dies (December 14, 2009)
I’ve just heard the sad news about Gene Barry’s death, at the age of 90.
I only worked with Gene once, in an episode of The Adventurer, but found him to be extremely professional. He was very “Hollywood” in many ways, and the more down to earth British approach to TV filming was a little difficult for him to deal with. But he was a charming man at heart, and the last of his kind, I feel.
In addition to making Burke’s Law for TV in the 1960s, he also starred in George Pal’s 1956 version of War of the Worlds – and had a cameo in Steven Spielberg’s recent re-make.
